RUSSIAN, imperial St. George Bravery Medal, 3rd class in silver, #103405, circa 1916. Obverse shows portrait of Nicholas II. The 28 mm version of the Bravery Medal was manufactured only in 1915 and issued through December 1916. Fine to very fine condition, with moderate surface wear and nicks to the rim (two most visible are to the reverse, at 2:30 and 4 o'clock positions). Details of artwork are relatively well preserved. Comes with new St. George ribbon mounted on Soviet type brass suspension device. Estimate price for that cross is $850+. |

Cross for Service in the Caucasus, 1864. Gilded bronze, paint. Upper arm of the cross shows monogram of Emperor Alexander II. Superimposed double-headed eagle on the center medallion. Screw back attachment. The bronze cross was awarded to enlisted men and NCOs who took active part in the 1859 - 1864 campaigns to subjugate Muslim tribes of the Western Caucasus. Very fine condition with chips and wear to black paint. Well preserved details and fire-gilt still visible on less exposed parts. 24mm diameter Red Cross Medal for Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905. In silver and enamel, hallmarked. Private maker. Fine quality translucent enamel reveals the "fishbone" pattern underneath. The eyelet shows "84" silver hallmark (poorly struck) and what appears to be Cyrillic maker mark "AR". New St. Alexander Nevskiy ribbon is mounted on Soviet type brass suspension. Moderate wear and surface chips to enameled cross. Fine overall, crisp details. On auction GELOS the biggest auction in Russia that medal was estimated for $1200.
